Round the world with paneer

While paneer might be synonymous with Indian food, its adaptability means it's just as easy to use in other cuisines. Delightfully decadent and with a remarkable ability to hold its form, Apetina® Paneer is a superb way to elevate your mid-week menu from the norm to something exciting.

ITALY

Pizza is a dish that has made itself an international favourite and is quick to cook up – just make your pizza base then use Apetina®Paneer as an instant substitute for mozzarella. If that's how you roll, why not marinade your paneer first for an extra burst of flavour? Chop some garlic and herbs, grind in some pepper and let it sit for an hour or two before you use it. Whether you choose to grill or bake your pizza, the cheese will remain cubed and offer a delicious, cheesy pop with each bite. Using a marinade turns it into an ideal vehicle for those comforting, Italian flavours.

GREECE

Who says kebabs are for carnivores? Switch-up the likes of chicken, lamb or beef for Apetina®Paneer cheese and thread blocks onto skewers, between your favourite veggies. If you want to give your souvlaki an extra lift, marinate the paneer in traditional Greek spices, such as mint, oregano, and thyme, before popping them on the barbeque or under the grill. Because Paneer holds its form, you’ll develop a flavourful crust and a yielding, melting middle. Best served with salad.

THAILAND

Paneer cheese is great when it's stir-fried with strong flavours. There’s no better example of this than using it in Pad Thai. Use all the staples: rice noodles, beansprouts, chillies, and peanuts, then throw in some cubes of paneer. Because Pad Thai is a stir-fried dish, the cheese with develop a quick crust and enliven your dish with little cubes of chilli-calming deliciousness.

MEXICO

Apetina®Paneer works incredibly well in Mexican food. Marinade your paneer in barbeque sauce, herbs blended with oil, garlic and lime or - if you're feeling daring – your favourite chilli sauce. Spread on an oiled roasting tin with peppers and onions and roast for around 20 minutes until the veggies are cooked and the paneer is golden brown. Serve with taco shells or tortillas with your favourite salsas and guacamole. You can also try our recipe for paneer skewers with cucumber and mango salsa but substitute the naan for flour tortillas.
